General Questions
Alumni Funds is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that gives alumni groups a platform to create custom performing arts scholarships. We take the hard work out of it by providing services to create, maintain, and distribute funding, leaving you to experience what its like to give back to the performing arts community without any of the headache.
Any participation in the services provided through www.alumnifunds.org (“Alumni Funds Corporation”, “Alumni Funds”, “we”, “us”, and/or “our”) consitutes acceptance of the following Terms of Service, and other policies and terms posted on the website, including, but not limited to, the Privacy Policy, located below. All such terms are hereby incorporated by reference into these Terms of Service.
We reserve the right to update or modify portions of these Terms at any time. If we do this, the changes will be posted on this page and the top of the page will indication the most recent date of revision.
Description of Services: The services of Alumni Funds are offered as a platform to users, which may include Scholarship Funders, Scholarship Seekers, and Scholarship Recipients, among other users, such as those who share the available scholarship with interested parties.
Among other features, the services of Alumni Funds are primarily designed to allow a group of former participants in performing arts activities to join together in funding significant scholarships for current participants in performing arts activities.
The service is provided only as a platform, and Alumni Funds is not a broker, financial institution, or creditor.. The services are re an administrative platform only, and are only intended to facilitate the organization of Scholarship Funders to fund fees for participants in the performing arts, as well as provide a centralized location to solicit applicants for scholarships and advise on the selection of Scholarship Recipients. Alumni Funds will administer the transfer of scholarship funds directly to the performing arts organization in the name of the Scholarship Recipient. Alumni Funds is not party to any agreement between Scholarship Funders and Scholarship Recipients, and has no control over the conduct of any Scholarship Funder or Scholarship Recipient, and hereby disclaims all liability in this regard.
Scholarship Funders, Scholarship Applicants, and Scholarship Recipients represent, warrant, and covenant that all information provided is accurate, complete, and not otherwise designed to mislead, defraud, or deceive any user or Alumni Funds. We reserve the right to provide information to law enforcement or to assist in any investigation is fraud is suspected.
Alumni Funds reserves the right to modify or discontinue, temporarily or permanently, the services with or without notice. You agree that Alumni Funds will not be liable for any modification, suspension, or discontinuance of the services.
Fees: All scholarship contributions are subject to the following fees:
- As of January 25, 2016, there are no fees to fund scholarships and solicit applicants through the Alumni Funds platform. We reserve the right to modify our fee structure for future scholarships. Any changes in our fee structure will be posted publicly, and must be accepted prior to entering into an agreement to host a scholarship.
Registration: Certain features of the services are only available to registered users. If you choose to register to access these features, you agree to provide and maintain true, accurate, current, and complete information about yourself as required in the registration form.
Scholarship Funders and Scholarship Seekers must register using their true identities. Individuals under thirteen (13) years of age are not authorized to use the services of Alumni Funds, with or without registering. Individuals under eighteen (18) years of age are only authorized to use the services of Alumni Funds, with or without registering, with the approval of a parent or guardian. Use of the services by individuals under eighteen (18) years of age implies receipt of such approval.
Registered users are responsible for maintaining confidentiality of their password and account, and are fully responsible for any and all activities occurring in their account. Any unauthorized use or other breach of security of your account must be reported immediately to Alumni Funds. Alumni Funds is not liable for any loss or damage arising from improper usage or your account, or for failure to sign out at the end of each session.
Alumni Funds may establish general practices and limits, including, but not limited to, the maximum amount of time that data and content will be retained by the services. Alumni Funds has no responsibility or liability for the deletion or failure to store any data or content. Alumni Funds reserves the right to terminate accounts of scholarships inactive for an extended period of time, provided that a reasonable effort is made to give reasonable notice. Any remaining scholarship funds will be returned to the Scholarship Funders, less any applicable fees, as described in the Fees section.
Content and Usage: Registered users of the services, including Scholarship Funders, Scholarship Seekers, and Scholarship Recipients, are solely responsible for their use of the services, including information provided in their accounts and descriptions of their scholarships such as video, images, text, music, sound, photographs, graphics, slogans, and other materials (“content”) uploaded, posted, published, displayed, transmitted, or otherwise used in accessing the services of Alumni Funds.
By providing any content to be used in a scholarship or account, you represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights and consents to (and to allow others to) fully exploit such content, including, but not limited to, all copyrights, trademark rights, and rights of publicity or privacy. By uploading any content, you hereby grant and will grant Alumni Funds a nonexclusive, worldwide, royalty free, fully paid up, transferable, sublicensable, perpetual, irrevocable license to copy, display, upload, perform, distribute, store, modify and otherwise use your User Content in connection with the operation of the services or the promotion, advertising, or marketing thereof, in any form, medium, or technology now known or later developed.
Without limiting the foregoing, if any content contains your name, image or likeness, you hereby release and hold harmless Alumni Funds from all claims for invasion of privacy, publicity, or libel, or other claims for any use or exploitation of your name, image, or likeness. You waive any right to inspect or approve any use of your content. If any person other than you appears in your content, you represent and warrant that you have secured all necessary permissions, waivers, licenses, and releases in a manner fully consistent as set forth above. You further acknowledge that your participation in the services and submission of content is voluntary, and that you will not receive compensation of any type associated with the licenses, waivers, and releases set forth herein.
Scholarship information may be made public through search engines such as Google or Bing. Please see our Privacy Policy below for more information on the ways that we may collect, use, store, share, and display certain information about you or your use of our services.
User Behavior: Alumni Funds reserves the right to investigate any user of the services by engaging any public or private organizations, and to take appropriate action against anyone who we have reason to believe (in our sole discretion) violates any of the terms or spirit of these Terms of Service or any law. Alumni Funds reserves the right to suspend or terminate the accounts of anyone in violation of these Terms of Services or any law, to report to any applicable authorities, or to take appropriate legal action.
Alumni Funds reserves the right to place holds on any account if there is reason to believe (in our sole discretion) that any provided information is false, misleading, fraudulent, or if the account has violated these Terms of Service, or if required under applicable laws and regulations. Any questions about accounts should be sent to info@alumnifunds.org.
Alumni Funds will not be liable in any way for any content or materials of any third parties (including Scholarship Seekers, Scholarship Recipients, or Scholarship Funders) including, but not limited to, any errors or omissions in any content, or for any loss or damage of any kind incurred as a result of any use of content. Alumni Funds is not responsible for this content and has no obligation, but reserves the right to refuse or remove any content at their sole discretion, if there is any reason to believe it is not compliant with the Terms of Service or determines to be otherwise objectionable.
Indemnity and Release: You agree to release, indemnify, and hold Alumni Funds and its affiliates, officers, employees, directors, and agents harmless from any losses, damages, expenses, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, rights, claims, actions of any kind and injury (including death) arising out of or relating to your use of the services, any content, connection, violation of the Terms of Service, or your violation of any rights of another.
Disclaimer of Warranties: Your use of the services of Alumni Funds is at your sole risk. The services are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. Alumni Funds and its affiliates expressly disclaim all warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory.
Most user concerns can be resolved quickly and to the user’s satisfaction by emailing Alumni Funds at info@alumnifunds.org.
User Disputes: Users of the services of Alumni Funds are solely responsible for interactions with any other users in connection with the services, including, but not limited to, any events that transpire after the transfer of scholarship funds. Alumni Funds has no liability or responsibility in this respect. Alumni Funds reserves the right, but is under no obligation to, become involved in any dispute between any users of the services.
This privacy policy discloses the privacy practices for www.alumnifunds.org (“Alumni Funds Corporation”, “Alumni Funds”, “we”, “us”, and/or “our”) to our visitors (“users”, “you”, and/or “your”). This privacy policy applies solely to information collected by this website, which is an online platform designed to connect Scholarship Funders with Scholarship Seekers.
This policy will notify you of the following:
- What personally identifiable information is collected from you through the web site, how it is used and with whom it may be shared.
- Information collected via Merchant Services while performing donation transactions.
- What choices are available to you regarding the use of your data.
- The security procedures in place to protect the misuse of your information.
- How you can correct any inaccuracies in the information.

Information Collection, Use, and Sharing
We are the sole owners of the information collected on this site. We only have access to/collect information that you voluntarily give us via email or other direct contact from you, including registration. We will not sell or rent this information to anyone.
We will use your information to respond to you, regarding the reason you contacted us. We will not share your information with any third party outside of our organization, other than as necessary to fulfill your request, e.g. to facilitate an application for a scholarship or to transfer funds upon scholarship award.
Unless you ask us not to, we may contact you via email in the future to tell you about other fundraising opportunities, new services, changes to this privacy policy, or other pertinent news and information.
Alumni Funds reserves the right to share news of Scholarship Recipients during their performing arts activities, including but not limited to photos, testimonials, and status updates, as more fully described in the Terms of Services located at www.alumnifunds.org/terms.
By voluntarily providing us with your information, you are consenting to our use of it in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you provide your information to Alumni Funds, you acknowledge and agree that such information may be transferred to our offices and servers, and to authorized third parties, including but not limited to Scholarship Funders who make decisions of scholarship awards based on information provided at the time of application.
We use “cookies” on this site. A cookie is a piece of data stored on a site visitor’s hard drive to help us improve your access to our site and identify repeat visitors to our site. For instance, when we use a cookie to identify you, you would not have to login a password more than once, thereby saving time while on our site. Cookies can also enable us to track and target the interests of our users to enhance the experience on our site. Usage of a cookie is in no way linked to any personally identifiable information on our site.
Information Collected Via Merchant Services
We collect information that we need that is related to your scholarship donation transaction. This includes your:
- Billing Address
- Shipping Address
- Email Address
- Credit Card Information
In addition we also collect information on your IP address, browser tpe, and Refer URL data. We use this data to prevent hacking attempts , help us know what web browsers people are using, and find out where our visitors are coming from so that we can improve our marketing.
- How this this information is used:Your information is used to complete your scholarship donation transaction. We do not sell or redistribute your information to ANYONE.
- Security and Storage:Ony your transaction data, billing, shipping and transaction contents data are stored on our server. This information is encrypted using a Secure Sockets Layer before it is transmitted over a web server. We do not store your Credit Card data.
- Cookies and Browser Information:Cookies are small files that reside on your computer and allow us to recognize you on your next visit or store your transaction contents. We use them only to track this information.
- Refund Policy:No refunds will be given to any scholarship donation transaction. If Alumni Funds rejects a scholarship application for not meeting the scholarship rules or requirements, refund of donation amount, not including transaction fees, will be given within three (3) business days of rejection notice.
Non-Identifiable and Aggregate Data
We receive and store certain non-identifiable information, collected passively through various technologies. Such information cannot be used to specifically identify you. Alumni Funds may store such information itself or such information may be included in the databases owned and maintained by Alumni Funds affiliates, agents, or service providers.
This information includes, but is not limited to, the total number of visitors to our website, total visitors to an individual scholarship, or the domain names of our visitors’ Internet Service Providers.
Alumni Funds reserves the right to conduct research on customer demographics, interests, usage statistics, and behavior based on information provided to us. This research may be compiled and analyzed in aggregate, and we may share this information with affiliates, agents, business partners, and other third parties for lawful purposes. This information does not contain personally identifiable information.
Registration
In order to use our website to collect scholarship applications or to apply for scholarships, a group of funders or applicant must register to use the site. During registration, a user is required to give certain information such as name and contact information, which will be used to verify identity and contact the user about their scholarship or application.
In order to register to use our site, users must be thirteen (13) years of age or older. Scholarship funds will not be disbursed to applicants under the age of 13.
Your Access to and Control Over Information
You may opt out of any future contacts from us at any time. Contact us at info@alumnifunds.org at anytime to do any of the following:
- See what data we have about you, if any.
- Change/correct any data we have about you.
- Have us delete any data we have about you.
- Express any concern you have about our use of your data.
Security
We take precautions to protect your information. When you submit sensitive information via the website, your information is protected both online and offline.
Wherever we collect sensitive information, that information is encrypted and transmitted to us in a secure way. You can verify this by looking for a closed lock icon at the bottom of your web browser, or looking for “https” at the beginning of the address of the web page.
While we use encryption to protect sensitive information transmitted online, we also protect your information offline. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, transfer scholarship funds) are granted access to personally identifiable information. The computers/servers in which we store personally identifiable information are kept in a secure environment. By providing your information to us in an application for a scholarship, you are granting us the permission to share it with Scholarship Funders to make a decision of scholarship award.
